US PLAYERS SELECTED FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE CAMP IN BARBADOS
Three US players have been selected to participate in a High Performance Camp in Barbados based at the WICB High Performance Centre for December 14-21, 2014.
Player selection was based on performance at recent ICC Americas U-17 and U-19 initiatives and based on performance of U-23 players at international level. Players are Steven Taylor, Keifer Phill and Kushal Ganji.
Long-term goals of this High Performance Initiative:
1. ICC Americas is currently exploring the possibility of a rookie position for regional players in each Caribbean Premier League franchise. This camp to act as selection tool for these potential rookie positions
2. ICC Americas – Talent Development Program (TDP)
This camp will act as selection tool for an ongoing ICC Americas TDP in 2015. TDP will involve a small number of players given numerous opportunities to visit WICB HPC and link with BCA and club programs
TDP players will be continually monitored and reviewed each year; some players may be dropped, while others added according to performance within the program and at international level
The schedule will be to play 3 x T20, 2 x 50 over games. There will also be fitness testing and skills training components, as well as opportunities to work with/hear from West Indies Coaches and passed players.
USACA would like to congratulate each of these gentlemen for being selected to represent the USA.
