WI 4-Day Team of Round 6

West Indian Professional Cricket League Round 6

KraiggKraigg Brathwaite scored 117 versus the Windward Islands Volcanoes this past weekend continuing his fine form with has extended from the Test tour of Australia, through the NAGICO Super 50 tournament. Brathwaite is currently the one stable opener for the West Indian Test side and is keen to maintain his position when the visiting Indians arrive. Brathwaite is sixth on the run chart from only three matches.

Kirk Edwards scored 93 in vain against Leeward Island Volcanoes as he looks to resurrect his international career. With many of the fringes Edwards will have to continue to push on even if he is to be considered.

Shai Hope scored 162 for Barbados Pride also against the Volcanoes in a confident boosting knock. Hope as struggled at the top level of cricket, but if he continues in this vain he should be able to break in the squad for the India tour. Hope this the tenth best run scorer to date from half the number of matches.

Vishaul Singh scored his third century of the WIPCL season, and that is more centuries than any other batsmen this season. His 104 against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force will certainly keep him in the mind of the selection panel as he is the leading run scorer this season.

Leon Johnson is the fourth top run scorers this season, thanks to his unbeaten 111 versus the Red Force. Johnson who has moderate return at the Test level, will be keen to push on and complete for places during the India Tour.

Jamar Hamilton scored an unbeaten 130 to lead the Volcanoes to their first winner this season. It was Hamilton’s third first class hundred.

Rahkeem Cornwall took 12 wickets in Volcanoes’ win of the Scorpions. Cornwall is third on the wicket taking charts with 29 scalps.

Nikita Miller is the leading wicket taker this season with 41 wickets. Even though he picked up eight wickets against the volcanoes it was not enough to save the Jamaica Scorpions from defeat.

Veerasammy Permaul is the fifth best wicket taker this season and scalped 9 wickets versus the Red Force to earn him a place on the team of the week. Permaul has 26 wickets the season in an extremely competitive pool of spinner.

Damion Jacobs is ninth on the wicket taking list but his eight wickets against the Volcanoes could no spare his side from defeat.

Miguel Cummins took eight wickets again the Volcanoes and is the only quick to pick up more that five wicket this round. Cummins did not play in Australia but is the leading wicket taker for Fast bowlers with 24 wickets compared to the league high of 41.
