EACA Power 40 First Round Preview

Following a successful 2012 season the Eastern American Cricket Association will bowl off the League Power 40 with eight fixtures. In zone I Phantom host 2011 Power 40 Champs Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) at Bay Park. MMZl welcomes three changes to its 2012 roster with Richie Sieuchan formerly of United Sports of the Commonwealth Cricket League being the super signing. Saumil Gandhi returns after a season with Aresenal as the list is completed by Neel Patel. For Phantom Anuhbhav Chopra completes the move from Division II Champions Victory. Long Island United (LIUCC) welcome 2013 Division II runners-up Falcons to Brentwood. LIUCC look to strength their bowling department with seamer Tahir Khan who campaigned with Victory in 2012 as Falcons maintain an unchanged squad.  NY Centurion will make their Power 40 debut against Camelot at Flushing Meadow. Camelot have acquired the services of Timothy Rodney from Atlantis and Imdad Khan (CCL). Hillside Sport journey to Hecksher State Park where they face Arsenal to complete the Zone I schedule. In Zone II 2012 Power 40 runners-up Atlantis look to begin with a strong campaign as they host Eastside Warriors (ESW) at Hecksher State. Atlantis will be buoyed by the success of Nicholas Stanford with Team USA in the recently ICC Americas T20 tournament. So too Alex Amsterdam should have a significant impact following strong showing at the Maq T20 tournament last December with Bedessee Destroyers. ESW will look to spring a surprise against the giants will a similar squad from last term. Liberty SC host Enmore at Flushing Meadow in what should be a competitive encounter. Liberty like Altantis have register Amsterdam, so it remains to be determined whether the all-rounder will turn out in the Liberty blue or the yellow and green. Liberty have made a number of additions with Mario Persaud, Marlon Persaud, Steve St Clair and Kerwin Sirju the most significant on the roster. For Enmore pacer Charlton Senior has joined from Big Apple along with Mark Gomes. Marlon Kallicharran will face is 2012 teammates as he joins from Liberty.

Allstars host Richmond Hill at Foch Boulevard. Allstars will be without all-rounders, Dhaval Patel and Yogesh Ganesh both of were key member during the 2012 season. For Richmond Hill they will be keen to build on their end of season form  which saw them reach the EACA Blitz T20 final in 2012. Richmond Hill will welcome the father-son pair of Sudesh and Sanjay Dhaniram, additionally Khaleem Bux is listed again with Kumar Nandlal making switch from Big Apple. The weekend’s card is completed with newcomers Galaxy, who visit Victory at Brentwood. Victory maintain a relatively similar squad barring Tahir Khan and Anubhav Chopra. For Galaxy they will be banking on the talents on Bedessee Destroyers’  Ryan Girdharry, Daryl Roopchand, Jameel Khan who has moved from Camelot and Rafeek Nazeer formerly of NY Youths CC. Reigning Power 40 and Blitz T20 champions ACS Everest will sit out the first round. All matches begin at 1pm, Zone II :EACA Zone 2 – Week 1 Squads
