by Dyon Ravello

Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) met Big Apple on July 7th their best competition to date. Batting first Big Apple were lead by skipper Zaheer Saffie 71 along with cameos from R Ramdeen 31, Clain Willams 30,  and Alexandrino Kirton 30, posting 231/9. Zaieed Majeed 2/26 and Rocky Kowchai 2/51 tried their best to keep the run flow in check. MMZ got off to a brilliant start with captain Azurdeen Mohammed 37 and Richie Seiuchan 68. But after the opening pair only Chad Munroe 20 managed double figures. Saffie completed a superb all-rounder performance at he scalped 5/20 to wreck MMZ. Shaun Thompson had 2/41 as MMZ crashed to 156 all out in 35 overs, putting an end to their 100 percent record.

Eastside Warriors sprung the upset of the final zonal round as they chased 261 to beat Liberty by five wickets. Liberty batting first posted 260/9, Bose Persaud 53, Thakur Singh 48*, and Terrence Madramootoo 43 provided the impetus for the Blue Nation. For the Warriors, F Ahmed 3/36, K Naseem 3/58 and S Ishfaq 2/50 ensured a constant procession of blue from the middle to the huddle. Liberty needed a win to confirm their place in the top flight, but Eastside were determined not to offer an easy way through . Richmond Hill maintained their unbeaten run to remain the only side without blemish going into Divisional play. Richmond Hill left Victory win-less this term as they restricted the cellar side to 126 in 36.2 overs. Only D Raval 39 offered any resistance. Kumar Nandalall 3/17, Ramphal Bactowar 2/14 and Sudesh Dhaniram 2/27 all combined to stifle the run flow. Dhaniram returned to lead his side with an unbeaten 74 to complete the seven wicket win. Richmond Hill  move on to Division I at the top of the table with 37 points.
