On July 29th Metropolitan Cricket League completed the semifinal stage of league play. Westbury met Villagers in a rematch from a week prior, while Cosmos played Progressive. Villagers had ended Westbury unbeaten record with an eight wicket victory, but tables were turned second time around as Westbury upstage the league leaders whne it mattered most. Amid the fanfare Westbury batting first scored a competitve total of 195. Villagers had chased 200 plus the week before, but they week not up to the challenge as they fell five runs short of the target. Westbury advancing to the Busta Lawrence Final on August 5th.
In the second encounter Progressive were more difinitive about there approach as the played the league second best unit. Progress scored 224 to then bowl Cosmos for 158, to complete a 66 run victory. Progressive into the championship decided with Westbury. Both Cosmos and Villagers will now focus on the T20 and The Sweeney Cup tournments as the only remain opportunity to complete a championship this season.
