New York Cricket Academy, Youth Series
Two matches were contested at Baisley Cage Cricket Park with Zahib Tariq’s XI versus Trevis Ross’ XI. Batting first Tariq’s troops were lead by openers Mohib Tariq 63 and Hamza Rana 41 who laid a plateau of a foundation. Jason Hall scored 25 as Tariq’s XI posted 164/5 (20). Bowling for Ross, Leon Mohabir had 2/27 with a wicket each for Trevis Ross, Ryan Persaud and Brandon Dat.
Ross’ XI made a game of the chase with Ryan Ramnarine 40, and Skipper Ross 34. It was Nicholas Harripersaud who stole the show for Tariq’s XI with 5/16 to lead his side to a 14 run win.
Randall Wilson’s XI clashed with Sajib Salam’s XI in the second encounter with Wilson’s XI taking first strike. Usman Ashraf continued to build a reputation for himself with 51. Support came from captain Wilson 36 and Derick Narine 26 as Wilson’s XI closed on 165/5. Hamza Babar took 2/27 bowling for Salam’s XI.
Salam’s XI like Ross’ XI batting second were intent on making use of a good day out on the park as Naiem Hasan 31, Aown Iqbal 22 and Salam 22 made a game of the chase. Usman Ashraf had other ideas as he claimed three (3) wickets to add to his half century to keep Salam’s unit at bay. Derick Narine provided ample support with two (2) wickets as Salam’s XI could only manage 149 losing by 16 runs.
